Welcome on the website of the BioDos Team!

BioDos is a UV biodosimetric experiment selected to fly on a balloon launched in the BEXUS (Balloon Experiments for University Students) project. We intend to test a new, continuous and in situ measurement method for biodosimetric purposes, and with that, we'll be able to follow the UV-induced changes in our biological samples during the flight of the balloon.

The experiment is carried out by a cooperation between the Research Group for Biophysics of Semmelweis University (Department of Biophysics and Radiation Biology) and the Space Research Group of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Department of Broadband Infocommunicatons and Electromagnetic Theory).

* The Student Experiment Documentation's final version - with the evaluated data - is due 31 December 2012.

* The experiment was presented on a poster at the annual conference of the European Astrobiology Network Association (EANA)

* The balloon' was launched on 25 September 2012 in the Esrange Space Center, Sweden. It had a flight time of 8 hours. The team's currently working on the evaluation of the flight data.

The REXUS/BEXUS programme is realised under a bilateral Agency Agreement between DLR and the SNSB. The Swedish share of the payload has been made available to students from other European countries through a collaboration with ESA.

EuroLaunch, a cooperation between the Esrange Space Center of SSC and the Mobile Rocket Base (MORABA) of DLR, is responsible for campaign management and the operation of the launch vehicles. Experts from DLR, SSC and ESA provide technical support to the student teams throughout the project.
